FAQs

What value do I get from joining a fraternity?

Fraternities can add value to your life in various different ways. Our organizations provide strong bonds and lifelong friends, academic and professional connections, and a social life within our school-wide Greek community. They also have philanthropic events, allowing members to give back to a meaningful cause. Fraternities can offer opportunities for leadership development, personal growth, and allow you to make the most of your college experience.

What Makes Rushing Unique at UC San Diego?

Fraternity Recruitment, commonly known as Rush, is a two-week-long process held twice a year at UC San Diego. Once in the Fall and once in the Spring with an additional Winter Rush available for smaller chapters. Rush provides young men the opportunity to explore UC San Diego’s 13 IFC-recognized chapters, connect with members, and find the fraternity that best aligns with their values and aspirations.

Can I only join a fraternity as a first-year?

No! You can join whenever you’re ready. While many recruits are first- or second-years, transfers and upperclassmen are welcome. UCSD’s IFC holds recruitment in fall and spring, and you can join when it fits your schedule.
